I am born in Patiala and over the years I visited Chandigarh and Patiala over weekend and I am always surprised to see the quality of living in these cities.
1) Chandigarh has a city symbol (open hand symbol), a city tree (Blue Jacaranda) and a city animal (Mangrose)
2) Sectors on both sides of the road are a multiple of 13. Trees planted on both sides are equidistant.
3) They have functional public services with people having cards for government hospital, memberships of government clubs and high university standards.
4) The cities are less crowded, there is less traffic and it is certainly much less polluted.
5) In both Patiala and Chandigarh people can reach from one end to another in 15-20 minutes.
All of these have very little to do with technology and I am wondering if technology can actually improve people's live in cities and to what extend?
The quality of life more to do with urban planning, governance and architecture and less to do with technology? What are your views?
